President Erdogan to announce the biggest oil discovery of recent years
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez said, "Our President will give another good news, and it will be about oil. Hopefully, our President will give the good news of one of the greatest discoveries of recent years at the Konya rally."
Addressing the citizens at the Election Coordination Center on İsmet İnönü Street in Yeni Mahallesi, Bilecik's Bozüyük district, Dönmez said that he believes the People's Alliance will emerge victorious on May 14, as in the previous elections.
Emphasizing that the AK Party governments have largely completed the lack of infrastructure from energy to transportation, from education to health, from industry to agriculture, Dönmez said, "Now, we are entering the Turkish Century with these infrastructure deficiencies completed. I hope we will build the Century of Turkey together, we will rebuild it together. We had a goal: to be among the 10 most developed economies in the world. In order to achieve this goal, the 2023, 14 May elections will be a turning point." he said.
Minister Dönmez stated that they have been engaged in intensive exploration and research activities in recent years in order to reduce foreign dependency in energy.
Reminding that they discovered a natural gas reserve in the Black Sea in 2020, which will go down in history as the biggest discovery in the world, Dönmez continued as follows:
"Although 2.5 years have passed, we have implemented a project that no country in the world has been able to achieve in a very short time. As you know, we burned that natural gas on land on the last day of Ramadan, the eve. When our President met with me before the ceremony, he said, "Now, this discovery is of course a great discovery, but it needs to be reflected on our nation." We said, "Sir, we have the following preparations. If you allow, we can give away the gas used in the houses and in the kitchen for a year free of charge, we can give it as a gift." to our people.' Noting that they are now looking for oil and natural gas in areas that were previously inaccessible due to terrorism, Dönmez said:
"Yes, Turkey is a foreign-dependent country for energy. We import almost 70 percent of the energy we use. Last year, we paid a bill of about 95 billion dollars abroad, mainly oil and natural gas. We believe that we will make additional discoveries both in the Black Sea and on land in the coming months and years, I hope."
Dönmez informed that today he will attend the opening ceremony of one of the largest solar power plants in both Turkey and Europe.
